Deptford and St Johns

Overview

Located approximately 6 miles from central London, Deptford boasts a long and illustrious history. Sir Francis Drake and Sir Walter Raleigh both set sail on their most famous voyages from “Deep Ford” as it was then known. The playwright Christopher Marlowe was murdered here and is buried in an unmarked grave in the churchyard of St. Nicholas .There are a number of  designated conservation areas, including the St Johns, Brookmill and Hatcham Park Conservation areas.

"I love it here! Great transport, lots to see and do, an eclectic mix of people and just a short walk to Greenwich."

Mrs Roper St Johns
